Safeguarding Policies

Heart of the Redeemer Covenant Community is committed to a safe environment for minors in all programs and events. We’ve summarized the most important safeguards and how to report concerns below, and we’ve linked the full policies for details.

Report a concern (how to act fast):

  1. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911.

  2. Report suspected or known child abuse within 24 hours to civil authorities (you can report directly):

    • Missouri Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline: 1-800-392-3738

    • Adult Abuse & Neglect Hotline: 1-800-392-0210

    • Kansas City Police Department: 816-581-0700 (or 911)

  3. Notify our Child Safeguarding Officers so we can protect the child, cooperate with authorities, and follow internal protocols. (Names listed in Part 1.)

What we practice (at a glance):

  • Zero tolerance for abuse and a clear, annual policy review.

  • Rule of Three: at least two approved adults present with minors (or one adult with two minors).

  • Clear boundaries for contact (what’s appropriate vs. not) to keep affection public and appropriate.

  • One-on-one mentoring safeguards (visible, pre-approved, known to parents/supervisors).

  • Careful use of technology & social media; group channels only, with supervisors included.

  • Transportation protocols (permissions, supervision, no unauthorized stops).

  • Background checks & annual training (e.g., VIRTUS and Missouri mandated-reporter training).
